Happy New Year!

Happy New Year!

Hey, 2025 is here, and if you are saying, “I want to make décor
changes this year,” but you are on a tight budget, I have
something to share with you that is inexpensive and can
perfectly work for you.

1.) Switch your furniture around. You heard me right!  Change
that sofa to the other side of the wall. Look at the layout to
maximize your space. Be sure to create a walk path that is easy
access and will eliminate any cords from being seen. Changing
your furniture can make your space feel refreshed and brand
new. I do this from time to time when I feel the need to have a
different outlook.

2.) Remove your décor. Take the pillows from the living room
into the bedroom or take the rug from the bedroom and place it
into the living room. You do not necessarily have to buy things
to have a transformation experience. A piece of furniture, wall
art, pillows, a vase, or a rug within your home can change the
outlook from one room, the living room, into another room like
the family room.

3.) Redecorate your shelves. Try adding a framed photo(s) by
using the triangle rule. The triangle rule is simple. The first shelf
used one object. The shelf below uses two objects. Keep
repeating until completed. If you do not care to do the triangle rule,
then simply switching objects around will give you a different
experience or "feel of the room".

4.) Add hardware. If you never had hardware on the kitchen
cabinets, this can be a great opportunity to try something new. If
you already have hardware, spray it to another paint finish like
matte black, gold, silver, or rose. If your budget permits, change
the faucets and handles. There are stores like Amazon, Ikea, or
online retailers to choose from and can help to assist you.

5.) Peel & Stick Wallpaper. Peel-and-stick wallpaper has
changed over the years compared to when it first came out. They
now have ones that look like real stone, concrete, and marble.
Game changer: If you add wallpaper on top of a piece of
furniture like a nightstand, let’s say marble, it can totally give
the high-end impact you can be looking for. Adding wallpaper in
a matted, framed picture is another way to revitalize your space
as well. You will be surprised what $20 of wallpaper can do to
your space.

6.) Change how you make your bed. Instead of having lots of
throw pillows, consider having only two stack pillows on both
sides of the bed and using coverlets. Sometimes, less is better.
Having a space that is organized, controlled, and less cluttered,
and yes, low maintenance, can be pure satisfaction. The
bedroom should be your private sanctuary and a place where
you receive mental and body healings but at the same time make
your daily routines easier while starting a new year.

7.) Change out stems. Now that the holidays are over, this is a
good time to replace stems, which can be purchased at Target,
Ikea, and Home Goods. Go to your local grocery stores and buy
live flowers. Switch flowers that we commonly see, like
hydrangeas and tulips, that will usher you into spring. Lighting
candles or setting a diffuser can give serenity. Not only do you
see beautiful flowers, but a wonderful fragrance is just as lovely.

8.) Wipe down your walls. I think, over time, because we are so
busy, we forget about how our walls get scuffs, and we do not
pay attention to the need to clean or paint them. Around the door
handles and the sides along the doors, there are usually dirty
handprints. The walls collect dust and spider webs. The
baseboards are grimy too. Use a gentle cleaning product for the
walls when wiping them down and touch up with paint on
scratches.

9.) Switch out your light bulbs. Using light bulbs day in and day
out, we don’t realize our space will become dim. By replacing
bulbs, this will brighten up our space to give it new life.
Changing out the style of the light bulb can be helpful. Try the
smart light bulb so that you can switch around the lighting
depending upon how you are feeling. Light is powerful when it
comes to interior design, and light bulbs do not have to be
expensive.

10. Switch out the kitchen towels. After the holidays, I generally
like to start the New Year with new kitchen essentials like matching
oven mitts, pot gloves, kitchen towels, dish cloths, and a
decorative area rug. This is another inexpensive way to
refresh a room. The kitchen is considered the gathering room.
People spend more time in this room than any other room.
Quality is the key word. Inexpensive does not have to look
cheap, and each of us has our own definition of quality when it
comes to things we like. I would like to say quality lasts longer.

Well, that’s my tips for the New Year. I hope your home will feel
refreshed without breaking the bank. What I shared with you is
under $20. Share your comments; I would like to hear them.
